  LOVE FUTURE HUMANKIND !

It took millions of years to create the fossil fuels which we "depend" upon...

It is taking hundreds of years to destroy the fuels we are using! BAD PROPORTION?

It would seem that we live within an artificial economy...One that is not based on real needs, but, rather on created needs...Car-Glamour-Status is an artificial need. Dr. Seuss had a story about status called "Lollileeloo" which i wish more kids could hear, again, these days...

Before I depart on this discussion of efficiencies   i should preface it by saying that for years i drove vehicles that got 10-15 mpg, and i am just as guilty of 'usurpation' as anyone else. I now take my wheelchair on the bus when i want to go places, and i get great pleasure from having a new variety of people to ride with each time...

You and I: we might be aiding and abetting what is becoming a heinous crime against our fellow planetary citizens and our/their enviornment by continuing to

re-elect the status-quo of a dosaur era Congree...We need to support changes of infra-structture...President Obama can lead us on this  ...Let's not get mired down in the resource usurpationists' antics of yesteryear...!  Suggestions of perspective follow...

>ECONONOMIC-HEALTH BY DOING MORE WITH LESS!

Why not announce that America is going to build the first 500mpg car (and many of them) -- the way President Kennedy did with landing a man on the moon...Maybe even calling it a matter of National Security?

A GRAND PRIZE COULD BE GIVEN OUT, JUST LIKE IN THE HUMAN GENOME PROJECT!!

If neccesary we could designate roadways as "prefered vehicle" roadways.

Time magazine claimed building such a car is do-able with a plug-in-hybrid, in it's article about an unlikely collaboration of entrepreneurs, last year (2005).

Motivated-Innovative-Design should yield less power-grid hungry products. I'm not a design engineer, but how about a small-steam-engine /electric hybrid? Attempts at this are being tried in Australia.

The cost of man made "exoskeletons" as this author likes to satirize them, suggests that there is a paradigm shift duely in order!

Using computers to extend humankinds' cybernetic nervous system is already making the modern-day automobile more obsolete.

Sustainability and Peaceful Humanism go hand in hand!

From the sublime to the ridiculous: compare the size of a human brain and its man-made exoskeleton, to the size of an insects's brain, and it's exoskeleton! efficiencies aside...

Look, also at the daily streams of traffic on LA's , and other citys' freeways and notice the similarity to insect-brain behaviour!

To carry this a little further: studies have suggested that the average American worker only spends 20% of his/her time doing actual work in the modern workplace, and more time getting to and from work....Are we simply sustaining this outdated mode of locomotion, becasue we have "become what it is"?...A

And; wouldn't that suggest a somewhat parasitic  nature toward earth resources of us as we feed on the (oil and steel) of Mother Earth?

Mosquitos and oil wells? Locusts in the Fields

This begs the question as to what percentage of the earth's resources have been scattered and irrecoverably diminished by our use of the automobile for transportation.

50% ? 60 %

What does that leave for future generations?

COULD WE HAVE DEVELOPED A FUEL CELL VEHICLE BY NOW WITH ALL THE RESOURCES WE'VE SPENT ON THE IRAQ  "CONQUEST" **?

********"CONQUEST" *********

...as coined by BUSH/WOLFOWITZ in speeches urging the going to war with Iraq.
